Scale-up projects support companies through early commercialization and market leadership.
The technology must demonstrate the potential for GHG emissions reductions, reductions in water consumption, and/or the reduction of water, soil, or air contamination.
The project must include some further development of the technology, mitigate existing technology risk, and include validation of the economic viability of the technology.

Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) helps Canadian companies develop and deploy sustainable technologies by delivering critical funding support at every stage of their journey — from seed to success.
Eligibility
You may be eligible if you meet the following:
- A Canadian company with a defined project
- A strong end-user value proposition
- The potential to attract a consortia partner to validate the market need and;
- Demonstrated environmental and economic benefits for Canadians
Additional Information
- On average SDTC provides 33% (up to 40%) of eligible projects costs.
- The average contribution is between $2 million and $4 million, with funds disbursed in five years or less
- 25% of the eligible costs must be funded through private sector contributions (including in-kind)
- Funding from all levels of government must not surpass 75% of eligible costs
- At least 50% of eligible project costs must be incurred in Canada

SDTC Seed Funding supports promising early-stage Canadian entrepreneurs with one-time non-repayable contributions of $50,000 to $100,000 for innovative technological projects with environmental benefits.
The Seed Funding Partner Accelerators work with a select group of approved Canadian accelerators and other entrepreneurial service organizations across Canada to identify entrepreneurs who will become tomorrow’s cleantech leaders.
All applicants must be nominated by one of the qualified accelerator partners.
